Knowledge Organisers
At Colchester Academy we believe that homework and independent learning is an essential part of teaching and learning and supports pupils to develop their study skills which will support them in and beyond school. Knowledge organisers are designed to present essential knowledge and concepts on a specific subject in a concise, accessible manner. They include key facts, definitions and diagrams and are used as reference tool in the classroom and to reinforce learning to help pupils connect ideas and enhance retention by present information visually. As the content is presented in manageable sections, these organisers facilitate better understanding and enable pupils to revise and study more effectively.
HOW SHOULD I USE MY KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER TO SUPPORT WITH MY INDEPENDENT STUDY?
You may use your knowledge organiser to support your independent study by creating flashcards, self-quizzing, memory mnemonics (using the first letter or acronym to easily remember information), creating a mind map, blanking out the organiser and writing down how much you can remember, constructing a diagram from memory or elaboration (say the information aloud to remember it or cover the key term and describe it aloud).
All homework tasks are set on Arbor. You should check Arbor every day to see if you have any new homework.
