PE (GCSE)

Year 9

Students explore the relationship between health-related exercise and performance in physical activity and how an individual’s skill-related fitness can be affected by health-related exercise. Students focus on the practical areas of football, rugby, netball, badminton, aerobics, circuit training, personal survival, athletics and rounders.

Year 10

Students understand how exercise can achieve desired effects on health, fitness and performance and how rest and physical activity in combination contribute to a healthy lifestyle. They develop this theme further by planning the targeted selection of physical activity in order to maximise its effects. This gives students the knowledge and understanding to plan their own sustainable involvement in physical activity. Students focus on the practical areas of football, rugby, netball, badminton, aerobics, circuit training, personal survival, athletics and rounders.

Year 11

Students understand the importance of diet, work and rest in relation to physical activity. They focus on the effects of injury and drugs on the body. Students produce their AOP written script and practice their delivery in lessons. Students focus on the practical areas of football, rugby, netball, badminton, aerobics, circuit training, personal survival, athletics and rounders.
